What type of disclosures does my financial advisor website need?

Every financial advisor needs to have formally written disclaimers displayed on their website. It does not matter where it is located on your website but it needs to say that you will not be held liable or be taking responsibility for certain actions.

Although you are not limited to what or how many disclaimers you put on your website we suggest that you include at least the following:

  • Do your own research (you need to advise your customers to do their own research on top of the advice that you give them)
  • Past performance does not predict future results (this is required by the SEC)
  • Terms of use (this is a more vague disclaimer and where you can put general information as well)
